What data the LangScribe iOS app collects, why, and how it is protected.
The LangScribe iOS app is local-first. Video files stay on your device. We do not sell personal data, show ads, or track you across other companies' apps and websites. We do not collect the advertising identifier (IDFA).
While you are signed out, your library, subtitles, player settings, theme, and language stay in on-device storage. Video files play from your device.
If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture. Library entries (titles, file names, and links) and subtitles are stored in our database on Cloudflare, encrypted in transit and at rest, with your credit balance and credit history. You can also sign in with Apple. Apple sends us your name and email address, or a private relay address, and a stable identifier for your Apple account.
Subscriptions and credit packs in the iOS app are sold by Apple. Apple processes payment under Apple's privacy policy. We do not receive your card number. To turn on the correct plan and credits, we store the Apple transaction identifier, the original transaction identifier, the product identifier, the purchase and expiration times, the storefront, whether the purchase was production or sandbox, a purchase account token that we generate and attach to the transaction, and the resulting plan and credit ledger entries. If the app reads the vendor identifier (IDFV), we use it only to support purchases and to limit abuse, not for advertising. We keep purchase records and the credit ledger for as long as your account exists and afterward for as long as tax, accounting, and dispute rules require. We do not use this data to build advertising profiles. If you ask Apple for a refund, we may tell Apple whether the credits from that purchase were used.
Free translation sends the lines being translated from the app to Google Translate and does not include your account details. AI subtitles send short audio chunks to Cloudflare Workers AI. AI translation and AI word examples send the subtitle text and the selected word. We process this only to return the result and do not use it to train models.
We use Cloudflare (database, hosting, and Workers AI), Google (sign-in and free translation), and Apple (in-app purchase). They process data to provide their services. The iOS app does not send purchases to any other payment company.
You can export your library in the app. You can delete your cloud library and delete your account in Settings. Deleting the account signs you out and deletes the library and subtitles tied to the account. We retain purchase identifiers and credit-ledger entries where the law requires records of paid transactions. You can also email mrdoublejun@gmail.com.
When you subscribe to a public RSS feed we store the feed address, show details, and the episode playback address. We do not keep a full copy of the audio. Reports and takedown records are kept so we can handle the request.
