Movie subtitles

Auto-Translate Movie Subtitles and Learn from the Films You Love

Reading only the translation lets the scene pass while the spoken line never sticks. LangScribe puts the original and a translation on the same cue, on a video you open yourself.

Open a local video or a direct link. Playback does not upload the file. If the film has no subtitles, AI can write timed lines from the audio (2 credits per minute, sign-in required). If you already have an SRT, import it for free, then translate. Use this only with videos you have the right to use.

Local playback. Import is free. AI transcription and AI translation use credits. Your own videos only.

A translation track alone is not study

When the only line on screen is the translation, you follow the plot and skip the language. Hiding that line later does not help if you never had the original timed to the voice.

  • Films and episodes you already have as a file
  • A line you want to hear again, not just read
  • English dialogue you want to sound out

Three steps on a video you open yourself

LangScribe is not a streaming-site extension. You bring the file.

  • Open your video. A local file plays on this device and is not uploaded. A direct link plays in the browser.
  • Get subtitles. Import SRT, VTT, or ASS for free, or run AI transcription at 2 credits per minute when the film has no usable captions.
  • Auto-translate into a bilingual view. Original and translation sit together. Hide the translation to practice the line, loop it, and slow it down.

Practice the line, not only the plot

The same player controls used for lectures work on dialogue.

  • US or UK readings on English words
  • Kana or romaji when the dialogue is Japanese
  • A-B loop and single-sentence loop
  • Playback from 0.5× to 2×
  • Hide the original or the translation. One side stays visible.
  • Click a timestamp or search the subtitles to return to a scene

Only videos you have the right to use

LangScribe plays files and direct links locally. It does not unlock a streaming catalog, and it is not a tool for copying a film you do not have the right to use. AI subtitles send short audio chunks. The video file itself is not uploaded for playback.

Start from a file, or from audio

Official or community subtitles are the free path. AI is for a film that has no usable track.

Free translation does not use credits. AI translation does, by the number of lines. Check jokes, names, and slang yourself.

Credits when the film has no subtitles

AI subtitles cost 2 credits per minute. Importing a subtitle file does not. A two-hour film is a large transcription, so import first whenever a file exists.

  • Local playback and direct links only. This is not a Netflix or other streaming-player extension.
  • Use only videos and subtitle files you have the right to use.
  • AI output is a draft. It is not a finished fansub.

FAQ

Can LangScribe translate movie subtitles automatically?

Yes, on a video you open. Import an SRT or generate timed lines with AI, then translate them so the original and the translation show together.

Does it work inside Netflix or another streaming site?

No. Open a local file or a direct link. LangScribe does not run inside a streaming site’s player.

Is the movie uploaded?

No. Playback stays on your device. AI transcription sends short audio chunks, not the film as a hosted upload.

Can I hide the translation and practice the line?

Yes. Hide the translation or the original. One of them stays visible. Loop the sentence and set speed from 0.5× to 2×.

Can I see pronunciation for English lines?

Yes. Show US readings or UK readings on English words.

Is this free?

Importing SRT, VTT, or ASS, playback, loops, and free translation do not use credits. AI subtitles cost 2 credits per minute. AI translation uses credits by the number of lines.
