Bilingual subtitles
Bilingual Subtitles for Any Video: Original and Translation Together
Most players show one subtitle track at a time. LangScribe shows the original and the translation on the same cue, so you can listen, check meaning, and hide one side when you want to test yourself.
Open a local video, an audio file, or a direct video link. Generate timed subtitles with AI, or import an SRT you already have. Then translate. The file you open locally is not uploaded for playback. AI transcription uses credits. Importing subtitles is free.
Two lines on one cue. Import is free. AI uses credits. Local files stay on the device.
One track at a time splits your attention
Switching between a subtitle file and a translation app means you lose the moment the line was said. A bilingual cue keeps both texts on the timestamp.
- Listening: read the original while you hear it
- A quick meaning check: glance at the translation
- Shadowing: hide one side and say the line
Three steps to original plus translation
Any video here means a file or a direct link you can open, not a catalog of shows.
- Open the video. Local files play on the device and are not uploaded. Direct links play in the browser.
- Get the original lines. AI transcription writes timed cues at 2 credits per minute, or you import SRT, VTT, or ASS for free.
- Add the translation on the same cue. Free translation or AI translation (credits, by the number of lines). Show both, then hide either side. One stays visible.
Make the lines readable
Bilingual text takes more room. The player lets you adjust how it looks and how you drill it.
- Subtitle size control
- US or UK readings on English, kana or romaji on Japanese
- Single-sentence loop and A-B loop, playback from 0.5× to 2×
- Click a timestamp or search the subtitles to jump
- Export SRT, or a Word document of the lines
Free path, credit path, and privacy
Start without an account: play, import subtitles, use free translation, loop, and look up words. Sign in for AI transcription, AI translation, and library sync. Guest data can stay in this browser. The video file is still not uploaded for playback.
What is free, and what uses credits
Bilingual study does not require AI if you already have a subtitle file.
| Free | Uses credits, needs sign-in |
|---|---|
| Play local video, audio, and direct links | AI subtitles, 2 credits per minute |
| Import SRT, VTT, or ASS | AI translation, billed by the number of lines |
| Free translation, loops, search, subtitle size | Optional. Everyday study works without it. |
AI can be wrong on names and fast speech. Export SRT and correct what you will rely on.
Import subtitles and translateWhat “any video” means here
- It means a file or a direct link you open, including audio. It does not mean every streaming site.
- Local files are not uploaded for playback. AI sends short audio chunks only when you transcribe.
- Use media you have the right to use.
FAQ
Can I see the original and the translation at the same time?
Yes. Both sit on the same cue. You can hide the original or the translation, and one of them stays visible.
Do I need AI?
No, if you import SRT, VTT, or ASS and use free translation. AI subtitles and AI translation need sign-in and credits.
How much do AI subtitles cost?
2 credits per minute of audio. AI translation is billed by the number of lines. Importing a subtitle file is free.
Is the video uploaded?
No. Local files play on your device. AI transcription sends short audio chunks, not the whole file as a hosted video.
Can I show pronunciation?
Yes. English lines can show US or UK readings. Japanese lines can show kana or romaji. Subtitle size is adjustable.
Can I practice one sentence?
Yes. Loop the current line or an A-B stretch, set speed from 0.5× to 2×, and click a timestamp to jump back.
