Anime Japanese

Learn Japanese with anime: furigana, romaji and line-by-line replay

Anime dialogue moves fast, and kanji without a reading is easy to skip. LangScribe puts kana or romaji on the timed line and lets you replay that one sentence.

Bring a video file you have the right to use, or a direct link. This is not a Netflix, Crunchyroll, or other streaming-site extension, and it does not include a show catalog. Playback of a local file does not upload the film.

Your file, on your device. Kana or romaji on the line. No streaming catalog.

Different from a podcast episode

A podcast page is for audio you subscribe to or open as a recording. Anime here is a video file: picture, timing, and a line you can loop while the scene stays put.

  • Video you already have on disk
  • Japanese subtitles you imported, or timed lines from the audio
  • One sentence replay instead of a whole scene

Three steps from a file to one line

The readings are kana above the words, which is the furigana-style gloss, or romaji if you switch to that. Both are a display option on Japanese text.

  • Open the video file or paste a direct link. Local playback does not upload it.
  • Import Japanese SRT, VTT, or ASS for free, or generate AI subtitles at 2 credits per minute when the file has no usable captions.
  • Show kana or romaji, add a translation, loop the line, and set speed from 0.5× to 2×. Click the timestamp to return to that moment.

Readings on the dialogue

Turn readings on and pick kana or romaji. The gloss sits with the subtitle, so you are not copying the line into a separate dictionary for every kanji.

  • Kana readings above Japanese words
  • Romaji as the other reading style
  • Hide the translation when you want only the Japanese line. One side stays visible.

Only shows you can open

Use files and subtitle tracks you have the right to use. LangScribe will not play a series inside someone else’s streaming player.

Captions you have, captions you generate

Fansubs and official subtitle files are the free path. AI is for a file with no usable Japanese track.

Credits if the file has no subtitles

AI subtitles cost 2 credits per minute and need sign-in. Import, playback, kana or romaji, loops, and free translation do not. AI translation is billed by the number of lines.

A file on your device, not a streaming app

  • LangScribe does not replace a browser extension inside a streaming site.
  • Kana readings and romaji are display options. They are not a separate furigana editor.
  • Use only video and subtitles you have the right to use.

FAQ

Can I learn from anime inside Netflix or Crunchyroll?

No. Open a video file or a direct link you have the right to use. LangScribe does not run inside those players.

Are furigana and romaji both available?

Japanese lines can show kana readings above the words, which is the furigana-style gloss, or romaji. You pick one reading style at a time.

How is this different from the Japanese podcast page?

That page is for audio and public podcast feeds. This one is for a video file and line-by-line replay on the picture.

Does transcription use credits?

AI subtitles cost 2 credits per minute and need sign-in. Importing an existing subtitle file is free.

Is the video uploaded?

Not for playback. AI transcription sends short audio chunks only when you generate subtitles.

Can I replay a single line?

Yes. Loop the current sentence or an A-B stretch, from 0.5× to 2×, and click a timestamp to jump back.

One anime line, until you can say it
